Overview
ACI Agriculture business started in 2011 with a poultry project in Harare. This project supplies chickens and eggs to local restaurants and hotels. Agriculture is a backbone of Zimbabwe’s economy and over the past 5 years this industry has seen growth in tobacco farming and livestock rearing. ACI is well positioned in the market to deliver superior and sustainable agriculture products. The poultry project, which is branded Shumba & Shoko Poultry, continues to find better ways to service the market and currently Shumba & Shoko is exploring setting up a piggery project.
ACI acquired 350 hectares of farmland in Beatrice, Mashonaland South Province. This acquisition has presented ACI with an opportunity to expand the Agri Division. This land will be utilised as follows:
- A hydroponics greenhouse for growing diverse plants
- A maize plantation focused on supplying producers of maize meal and other related products
- Poultry and piggery projects
- Contract farming with local producers focusing on livestock
ACI also acquired a banana plantation farm in Honde Valley, Manicaland Province of Zimbabwe, that is sub-divided to grow bananas, vegetables, soybeans and sugar beans projects.
